The clients’ love for their 1920’s English Tudor home was clear; it had the bones of a great house. It just called for updating the interiors to reflect the quirky energy of this exuberant young family. Color and music were the driving forces. Music is this family’s true passion - a baby grand piano, record player and guitars galore made for quite the backdrop. SVD incorporated bright fuchsia and nearly every shade of green to complement the wood tones of the musical instruments and jazz up the house. (Pun intended) Even the kitchen got a healthy dose of color with cabinets in Farrow & Ball’s Green Smoke.
SVD’s fondest client relationships form over years of working together. What began as a quick master bath renovation evolved into an entire home makeover, rolled out over several years. SVD grew to know this client’s style intimately - after initially mistaking a few hand-me-down antiques for a more traditional style, it quickly became clear that funk and quirk were the name of the game for this spirited family.
In the client's own words...
"My house had felt so dated and full of stuff that just wasn’t me. Things I had purchased to fill a space, but not because they excited me. Sarah and Hayley turned my house into a place I love to be. Just enough transitional, just enough whimsy. Full of color, which I can’t live without. I was able to keep the few things I treasured while Sarah and Hayley incorporated new items to complement them and create a beautiful home for my family.“
